The house in this video is a 4400 sqft home consisting of six modules and a clear-story set atop the house. It was assembled in Glencoe, IL in September, 2005. The set lasted from 7am to 2:30pm. The modules were transported from Stratford Homes in Stratford, WI the previous day by truck. The site work prior to the set includes the foundation and steel beams, sewer, water, gas and electric all run to the foundation. The modules are hoisted and moved using a 90-ton crane and maneuvered into place by our experienced set crew.
Once a module is set it is attached to the foundation (first floor) or the module below (second floor) and adjoining modules. After the modules are secured the roof is set and felt paper installed, at this point the house is weather tight. All of the work was completed before 5pm that day. After set day, the exterior of stone and cedar was installed and the interior finishes were completed.
